Water tank placement, Moreton Island

Six poly tanks and a pump skid placed at an island resort with no barge window and no vehicle access to the ridge.

01

The constraint

Tanks had to reach a ridge 1.4 km beyond the last trafficable sand track.

Barge scheduling was tide dependent and the resort could not close the beach access for a week.

Cutting a temporary track through vegetated dune required approvals nobody was going to obtain in the timeframe.

The lift

Load weight

01Loads were staged on the mainland at a cleared laydown near the barge ramp and flown across in seven cycles.

02Each tank flew empty on a 30 m line with a spreader to prevent shell distortion.

03Ground crew on the ridge landed each load onto pre-levelled pads and released remotely.

04The pump skid went last so plumbing could begin the same afternoon.

Client record

Everyone told us to wait for the barge. Instead the whole tank farm landed on the ridge in one morning.
